Avocado lovers rejoice, because this South American-inspired sweet avocado mousse, or creme de abacate, is so simple to make. It blends avocado flesh with condensed milk, heavy cream, and lime juice for a creamy dessert that is rich, indulgent, and sweet, with a dash of tartness.
This dish is a great example of the creative ways avocados are used in South American cuisine. If you’ve got avocados going squidgy and you’re not quite sure what to do with them, give this recipe a go!
What You’ll Need
To make this simple dessert, you’ll need just four ingredients:
- Avocado – 1 large avocado
- Condensed Milk – 1 can of condensed milk (14 oz or 397g)
- Heavy Cream – 2/3 cup of heavy cream (or double cream)
- Lime Juice – 2 tbsp of fresh lime juice (from about one lime)
How to Make it (in 3 Easy Steps)
Step 1. Cut the avocado in half and remove the seed. Scoop it all into a blender alongside the condensed milk, heavy cream, and lime juice.
Step 2. Blend the mixture on high speed until completely smooth. In a high-speed blender like Vitamix, that’s about 45 seconds. In a regular blender or food processor, it might take a bit longer (2-3 minutes).
Step 3. Transfer the mixture into 4 serving glasses. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours (or overnight).
How to Serve it
As you can see this is easy to make.
You can go really elegant with this, and serve it in a fancy cocktail or dessert glass. Add fresh berries for both looks and to add some more tartness to balance out the sweetness of this dessert. Fresh raspberries, in particular, pair well with the flavors in this dessert.
You could also keep things simple with a dessert bowl or glass. As long as it fits in the refrigerator.
