14oz400 grams fresh strawberries (about 2 and 1/2 cup when chopped)
1/2cupsugarsee notes
1bottle of Chilean red wine750ml or 26oz, chilled
Instructions
Remove the stems from the strawberries and then chop the strawberries.
Add sugar to the strawberries, mix gently, and set the bowl (covered) in the fridge for at least one hour (but you can prepare this ahead of time and keep it in the fridge for up to 24 hours). This is also a good time to place your wine bottle in the fridge to chill. After at least an hour, you should have a nice syrup with the strawberries. The more time passes, the more syrup you will have. Make sure that the sugar is all dissolved and you don’t have any remaining sugar granules.
Add the strawberries (in syrup) and the chilled red wine to a pitcher.
Give everything a good stir and chill in the fridge for 15-20 minutes to let the flavors come together.
Serve in glasses, and don't forget to eat the strawberries at the end with a spoon!
Recipe Notes
Sugar – If the strawberries you’re using are sweet, you can use 1/2 cup sugar. If the strawberries are not as sweet or you have quite the sweet tooth, you can increase the amount to 2/3 cup sugar or adjust the amount further to your preference.
